Basketball Recap: Rising Sun Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Vicky Erickson and Jaylen Peelman

Rising Sun was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 60-54 heartbreaker at the hands of the Switzerland County Pacers. Sadly, that's the third time they've come up short against the Shiners this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 65-47 last Saturday.

Despite the loss, Rising Sun had strong showings from Jaylen Peelman, who posted 24 points and three steals, and Vicky Erickson, who went 8 of 12 on her way to 17 points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Peelman a new career-high in points. Carrigan Friend was another key player, putting up eight points.

Rising Sun's defeat dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Switzerland County, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-14 record this season.

Rising Sun wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 74-35 loss against Shawe Memorial on the 30th. Switzerland County has also already played their next game, a 56-29 defeat against Oldenburg Academy on the 30th.
