North Central II/Bay Football recap Sept. 26, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Emery, who took down 906th ranked Calistoga, 34-10.
The Spartans were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to fourth in North Central II/Bay Football. Emery defeated the Wildcats 34-10 earlier in the week.
St. Vincent de Paul's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Mitch Sheppard threw for 259 and three touchdowns and Patrick Garcia had 89 yards receiving. On the ground Derek Murphy chipped in 92 yards. Arman Yektaparast helped St. Vincent de Paul's passing attack out by catching four balls for 53 yards.
The Mustangs' Sheppard and Yektaparast have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Sheppard has thrown for 733 yards this season, while Yektaparast, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 13 catches for 337 yards. Tomales's Anthony Feliciano leads the league in rushing yards with 428.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when St. Vincent de Paul takes on California School for the Deaf. The Mustangs are currently in second, while the Eagles are in third.
The Spartans moved up to 847 from 990 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in North Central II/Bay Football. Emery was able to make the jump by beating Calistoga 34-10.
