Sunrise Mountain and Las Vegas are an even 3-3 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The Sunrise Mountain Miners will head out on the road to challenge the Las Vegas Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Monday, Sunrise Mountain ended up a good deal behind Foothill and lost 51-32.
Skye Warren put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for 13 straight games.
Meanwhile, sadly, Las Vegas is still looking for their first win of the season after 20 matches. They were beaten by Shadow Ridge 61-28 on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Las Vegas can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while Shadow Ridge is ranked seventh).
Sunrise Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 16-12. As for Las Vegas, their defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-20.
Sunrise Mountain didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Las Vegas when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 36-32 victory. Will Sunrise Mountain repeat their success, or does Las Vegas have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
