Quitman is 0-3 against West Rusk since November of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Quitman Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the West Rusk Raiders at 7:30 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Quitman has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while West Rusk will arrive with four straight victories.
Last Friday, Quitman took a serious blow against Arp, falling 47-16. Quitman was down 40-8 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Meanwhile, West Rusk didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Troup on Friday, but they still walked away with a 13-9 win.
Among those leading the charge was Cole Jackson, who rushed for 236 yards and a touchdown.
Quitman's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.8 points per game. As for West Rusk, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Quitman was taken down by West Rusk 50-0 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Quitman avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
