Dreyden Wood made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Wood was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cooper Smith, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Mason Robinson was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Delta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Millard only posted an OBP of .077.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Payson was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They lost 6-0 to Morgan. The loss was the Lions' first of the season.
Delta's record now sits at 8-0. As for Payson, their loss dropped their record down to 3-1.
Delta's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. The Rabbits have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 stolen bases per game.
