There's no place like home for The Sabinal Yellowjackets, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat La Pryor 42-3 at home. The result was nothing new for Sabinal, who have now won three matches by 26 points or more so far this season.
Sabinal's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Matthew McCauley, who picked up 120 receiving yards and two touchdowns. McCauley was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 64 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Israel Gonzales, who rushed for 67 yards and two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding La Pryor to a paltry 157 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Sabinal's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out six times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Aiden Tinker and Diego Valdez who racked up five sacks between them.
Sabinal has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season. As for La Pryor, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing D'Hanis the next time they take the field. La Pryor will host D'Hanis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Sabinal will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on October 21st.
