The Mountain House Mustangs will square off against the Central Catholic Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Mountain House's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on East Union with a sharp 8-0 victory.

Luna Lopez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, MacKenzie Coffman was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Mountain House was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Union only posted a batting average of .125.
Meanwhile, Central Catholic came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Timberwolves as they made off with a 33-0 win. The Raiders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Like Mountain House, Central Catholic also got a great game from a two-way player: Amaya Gustavis. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gustavis was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-6 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs.
In other pitching news, Braelyn Avila looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Jazmarie Roberts was a standout: she went 3-for-6 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Samantha Nichols was another key player, getting on base in five of her seven plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Central Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Mountain House, their win bumped their record up to 15-3.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mountain House hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. However, it's not like Central Catholic struggles in that department as they've averaged .365. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
