The Chicago Christian Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They fell just short of Willows Academy by a score of 44-42. While losing is never fun, Chicago Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 511th, while Willows Academy is ranked 228th).
Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aydee Moes, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Moes has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Courtney Stoub, who scored nine points along with six steals.
Chicago Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season. As for Willows Academy, their win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-4.
Chicago Christian will head out on the road to face off against Marian Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marian Central Catholic is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games. As for Willows Academy, they will be playing at home against Francis W. Parker at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Francis W. Parker focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 34 on Friday.
