Softball Recap: Chapin Wins Going Away Against Jefferson

Chapin won the last time they faced Jefferson and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Huskies were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Silver Foxes. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won 16 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Khloe Jensen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Jensen was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Deja Wilson was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Jaedyne Armendariz also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triples of the season.

Chapin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jefferson only posted an OBP of .389.

The win made it two in a row for Chapin and bumps their season record up to 20-6-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 8-19 El Paso and 12-16 Jefferson. As for Jefferson, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-16.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Chapin will challenge rival Canutillo at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Jefferson is set to take on their familiar foe El Paso at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
