Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Leigh). Everything went their way against the Gilroy Mustangs on Thursday as they made off with a 15-9 win. The Longhorns not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 27th (when they won 11-3).
Madison Oliver was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucy Miller, who went 3-for-5 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Leigh always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gilroy only posted an OBP of .400.
Leigh's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-12-1. As for Gilroy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-6.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Leigh is set to challenge their familiar foe Branham at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Gilroy will square off against rival Santa Teresa at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
