Maine East hadn't done well against Vernon Hills recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Blue Demons skirted past the Cougars 2-1. The victory was familiar territory for the Blue Demons, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Maine East had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-19, 25-13.

Maine East pushed their record up to 13-10 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Vernon Hills, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season.
