Gadsden City has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Huffman Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Gadsden City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Gadsden City came up short against Clay-Chalkville and fell 40-28. While losing is never fun, Gadsden City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while Clay-Chalkville is ranked 19th).
The losing side was boosted by Mariah Ragland, who scored 11 points along with 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Aniyah Williams, who scored 8 points.
Huffman has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 30 points or more this season. They blew past Paul W. Bryant, posting a 67-28 victory on the road. The win made it back-to-back wins for Huffman.
Their wins bumped Gadsden City to 4-9 and Clay-Chalkville to 11-1.
Gadsden City strolled past Huffman in their previous matchup back in December of 2016 by a score of 49-35. Will Gadsden City repeat their success, or does Huffman have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
