Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Young Americans Christian Eagles walked away with it. They put the hurt on Johnson Ferry Christian Academy with a sharp 62-42 win on Friday. Young Americans Christian might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won seven matches by 20 points or more this season.
Leading Young Americans Christian to victory were Jayden Sigur and Caleb Blunt. Sigur rushed for 137 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 carries, while Blunt rushed for 204 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. Blunt was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards.
Several Saints players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Austin Ahmad, who rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown on only six carries. Alex Hornsby also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Johnson Ferry Christian Academy's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Leading the way was Blake Willoughby and his two sacks.
The victory (which was Young Americans Christian's third in a row) raised their record to 8-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.3 points per game. As for Johnson Ferry Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.
Young Americans Christian is on the road again on Friday and play against Sherwood Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on November 10th. Sherwood Christian Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 525 points over their last ten contests. Johnson Ferry Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
