Stonington is 9-1 against the Panthers since February of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Stonington Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Plainfield Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Stonington knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten contests -- so hopefully the Panthers like a good challenge.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Stonington ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Wheeler out 59-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Meanwhile, Plainfield's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 70-50 loss at the hands of Lyman Memorial.
Stonington pushed their record up to 10-3 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Plainfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Stonington against the Panthers when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 63-30 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Stonington since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
