The Hamilton Marines's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Elkhart Christian Academy 55-26. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hamilton in their matchups with Elkhart Christian Academy: they've now lost five in a row.
Elkhart Christian Academy can attribute much of their success to Allison Russell, who scored 13 points along with seven steals and six assists. Russell has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ellie Liggitt, who scored five points along with 12 rebounds.
Hamilton's loss was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-11. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.0 points per game. As for Elkhart Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 9-11.
Hamilton will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Clinton Christian at 6:15 p.m. on January 23rd. Clinton Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Elkhart Christian Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Trinity at 7:30 p.m.
