The Minnechaug Regional Falcons lost a heartbreaker to the Pittsfield Generals when they met back in January of 2023, and they left with a heavy heart again on Wednesday. Minnechaug Regional ended up on the wrong side of a rough 78-53 walloping at the hands of Pittsfield. Minnechaug Regional has struggled against Pittsfield recently, as their game on Wednesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Pittsfield's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marcello Arienti, who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Arienti has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Da'Sean Brown, who scored 15 points.
Minnechaug Regional's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Pittsfield, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-5.
Minnechaug Regional will head out on the road to face off against Pope Francis Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pope Francis Prep presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Minnechaug Regional in Massachusetts (Pope Francis Prep is ranked 20th, while Minnechaug Regional is ranked 109th). As for Pittsfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wahconah Regional at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
