It was a good run, but the Dickinson Gators unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of Clear Springs by a score of 66-64. While losing is never fun, Dickinson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 394th, while Clear Springs is ranked 99th).
Several Gators players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Qasim Boyd, who scored 22 points along with four steals. Boyd is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. David Chong was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven assists and five steals.
Dickinson's defeat dropped their record down to 8-17. As for Clear Springs, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Clear Falls the next time they take the court. Clear Springs will host Clear Falls at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Dickinson will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
