Mayer scored the most points they've had this season on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 39-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ash Fork Spartans. The loss leaves the Wildcats without a win on the season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ash Fork to victory, but perhaps none more so than Josue Tellez, who posted 12 points in addition to eight boards and six blocks. The dominant performance gave Tellez a new career-high in blocks. Another player making a difference was Jeffrey Trovillion, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 14 points in addition to six rebounds and four blocks.

Mayer's record now sits at 0-7. As for Ash Fork, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mayer won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Maryvale Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mayer is facing Maryvale Prep at the right time seeing as Maryvale Prep is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Ash Fork, they and Williams will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday without much rest having both just played. Ash Fork has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
