Zuni took  a  three-set  defeat the last time they faced off against Navajo Prep, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Thunderbirds sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  3-2  victory over the Eagles  on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  win the Thunderbirds have posted  against the Eagles since September 28, 2021.
 It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Zuni got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 18-25, 25-22, 24-26,  15-8.
Zuni is  on a roll lately: they've  won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record  this season. As for Navajo Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 5-14.
 We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Zuni will  take on  rival Crownpoint  at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Navajo Prep is set to  face off against  their familiar foe Wingate  at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
