Despite the defeat, Heritage saw an underclassman step up: Rylan White dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. White scored a full 34.5% of Heritage's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Bensyl, who scored ten points.
Villa Grove's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Heritage, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
Villa Grove will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Judah Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Judah Christian comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Heritage will finish 2023 at home by hosting Armstrong at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Armstrong will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
