Baseball Recap: Wyoming East Has No Trouble Against Bluefield

Wyoming East won against WestSide on Thursday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Warriors put the hurt on the Bluefield Beavers with a sharp 13-1 win. Considering the Warriors have won 13 matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Zach Hunt made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hunt was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Blake Shrewsbury was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Dylan Golden, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Wyoming East is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That lines up perfectly with their 18-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bluefield, they dropped their record down to 0-17 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Wyoming East will head out to square off against Oak Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.29 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Bluefield, they will welcome Mingo Central at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
