Taft is 0-3 against Libertyville since May of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Eagles will welcome the Wildcats at 4:45 p.m. Taft is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
Taft lost 14-3 to Fenwick on Wednesday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Eagles, who until this contest were averaging 3.77 runs allowed.
Taft saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avelese Cruz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.
Meanwhile, Libertyville entered their tilt with Zion-Benton on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Zee-Bees with a sharp 8-1 victory.
Mckenna Weaver spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Libertyville got a massive performance out of Jules Figurelli, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Figurelli has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Olivia Kipp, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Libertyville's win bumped their record up to 14-12. As for Taft, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Taft has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Libertyville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Taft couldn't quite get it done against Libertyville in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 as they fell 3-0. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
