1A District 3 recap November 5, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to St. Mary, who defeated 170th ranked LaSalle, 42-28.
The Tigers made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,385 from 10,168. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 42-28 victory over the Tigers last week.
Dorian Bowman made the biggest impact on defense this week as Block defeated Montgomery. The 5-foot-9 sophomore grabbed 3 interceptions.
Brandon Johnson was the best receiver in 1A District 3 this week as LaSalle lost to St. Mary. Johnson tallied 2 receptions for 92 yards. Kenneth Smith helped LaSalle's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 56 yards.
6-foot-4 quarterback Cole Hendrix of the Tigers is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,533. He has also thrown 19 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Bijon Washington. The Montgomery star has 18 catches for 510 yards.
Raymond Plummer of the the Bears is just 46 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 111 carries Plummer has accumulated 954 yard this year.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when the Tigers and Block face off next week.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when LaSalle takes on Benny Vault's team. At the moment, the Tigers are in first, while the Bears are in fourth.
Charlie Cryer's team led 1A District 3 in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on LaSalle.
