Despite the defeat, Trenton saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Mason VunCannon went 9-for-17 en route to 25 points and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points VunCannon has scored all season. Tyler Bullis also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.
Even though they lost, Trenton was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They racked up seven more assists than Hilliard's also-impressive total of ten.
Cj Hall was his usual excellent self, going 6-for-13 to rack up 20 points and eight boards for Hilliard. Hall's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Dj Alderman was another key player, putting up 11 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Trenton and nudges their season record down to 15-12. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 13-9 Fort White (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 67% over those games). As for Hilliard, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.
