Rancho Verde has gone a perfect 3-0 against Rancho Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Mustangs will be playing at home against the Eagles at 3:15 p.m. Rancho Verde is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Last Tuesday, Rancho Verde made easy work of Fontana and carried off a 9-2 win. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by seven runs or more this season.
Isabelle Sena spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aubrey Castro, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Serenity Menendez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Rancho Verde was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles two weeks ago. Rancho Christian came out on top against Capistrano Valley Christian by a score of 7-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Rancho Christian.
Hailey Whitman was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaydence Erickson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Rancho Verde is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Rancho Christian, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
Rancho Verde took their victory against Rancho Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-6 score. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
