North Hollywood is 1-8 against Arleta since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The North Hollywood Huskies will be playing at home against the Arleta Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, North Hollywood got themselves on the board against Verdugo Hills, but Verdugo Hills never followed suit. They took down the Dons 14-0.
Jaylin Burt was his usual excellent self, rushing for 111 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Burt is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Omar M, who rushed for 88 yards on only six carries.
Meanwhile, Arleta had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They didn't even let Chavez onto the board and left with a 10-0 win.
Arleta found their leader in underclassman Jose Rosas, who gained 114 total yards and a touchdown.
North Hollywood's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4. Arleta has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in seven of their first eight contests, giving them a 7-1 record.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. North Hollywood has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 337.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Arleta struggles in that department as they've been averaging 228.4 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
North Hollywood strolled past Arleta in their previous meeting back in September of 2022 by a score of 16-0. Does North Hollywood have another victory up their sleeve, or will Arleta turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
