3A District 1 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Jones was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Marlow 28-0. The Longhorns came in at 19 in the state poll after placing at number 38 last week.
Jones was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to third in 3A District 1. David Martin's team beat the Outlaws 28-0 earlier in the week.
Blanchard's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Brock Lamle threw for 123 and three touchdowns and Zach Hill had 60 yards receiving. On the ground Braden Stringer chipped in 145 yards. Kyle Self helped Blanchard's passing attack out by catching two balls for 38 yards.
Jalan Daniels made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Lions beat Little Axe. The 6-foot-2 junior grabbed one interception and racked up one sack.
Blanchard's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Lions feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Lamle has thrown for 762 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, while Tanner Foster has 18 catches for 255 yards. Stringer leads the league in rushing with 325 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Blanchard takes on Bridge Creek. As it stands, Jeff Craig's team is in second, while the Bobcats are in fourth.
Tuttle extended the longest winning streak in 3A District 1 this week by beating Newcastle, 41-3. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Tigers.
