The Rockford East E-Rabs can finally bid farewell to their 17-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They slipped by Harvard 38-37. The victory was just what Rockford East needed coming off of a 94-22 loss in their prior game.
Rockford East's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Promise Crawford, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 21 rebounds. Aubree Erickson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.
Rockford East's win ended a 18-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-19. As for Harvard, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost 15 of their last 16 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-20 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rockford East won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Titans at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th. Boylan Catholic presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the E-Rabs in Illinois (the Titans are ranked 56th, while the E-Rabs are ranked 593rd). As for Harvard, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hilltoppers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Elgin Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 13 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
