Deerfield came into Tuesday's contest looking for another win against Oakfield, but Lily Collien wouldn't allow it. The Oaks came out on top against the Demons by a score of 2-0 last Tuesday for which the team can thank Collien, who had 17 digs. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last four games she's played.
Oakfield easily took the second set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-15.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Dodgeland had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Big Red. The victory was familiar territory for the Trojans, who have now won three matchups in a row.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-5, 25-18.
Oakfield better keep an eye on Kayden Denure. She was instrumental in Dodgeland's win, getting 22 assists and four digs. That's the most assists Denure has posted over her last eight matches.
Dodgeland was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. They are a perfect 10-0 when they serve at least ten aces.
Oakfield's win bumped their record up to 16-7. As for Dodgeland, their victory bumped their record up to 19-12.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Oakfield has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.1 aces per game. However, it's not like Dodgeland struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.5 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Oakfield was able to grind out a solid win over Dodgeland when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 2-0. Will the Oaks repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
