Cornerstone Charter Academy and Winter Park are an even 3-3 against one another since February of 2016, but likely not for long. Meanwhile, Winter Park fell victim to East River and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 1-0.
Winter Park saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rylie Scanlon, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.
Cornerstone Charter Academy's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Winter Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
Winter Park's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cornerstone Charter Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. It's a different story for Winter Park, though, as they've only averaged .221. Will they be able to contain Cornerstone Charter Academy's hitters?
Cornerstone Charter Academy skirted past Winter Park 2-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cornerstone Charter Academy since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
