Myrtle had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Baldwyn Bearcats on Saturday as they made off with a 12-2 win. Considering the Hawks have won 17 games by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Hunter Davis made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Davis was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Drew Stanton was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Wes Stanton was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Myrtle is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Baldwyn, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-10-1.
As of now, neither Myrtle nor the Bearcats have any future games scheduled.
