The South View Tigers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. Everything went their way against St. Pauls as South View made off with a 66-46 victory. The score was close at the half, but South View pulled away in the second half with 33 points.
South View got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Unity Youngblood out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Youngblood has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Nahmiah Aekins, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, St. Pauls saw an underclassman step up: Zhariana Shipman scored 27 points along with three steals. Ava Monroe was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven rebounds and seven steals.
South View's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for St. Pauls, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-3.
South View will head out on the road to take on Douglas Byrd at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Douglas Byrd focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine back in December of 2023. As for St. Pauls, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Lumberton at 10:00 a.m.
