Basketball Recap: McIntosh Takes a Loss

After flying high against Fruitdale last Monday, McIntosh came back down to earth. The McIntosh Demons took a 68-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cottage Hill Christian Academy Warriors on Tuesday. The Demons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2020.

Despite the loss, McIntosh still got an impressive performance from Corey Williams, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 boards. Williams is becoming a predictor of McIntosh's success: when he posts at least eight rebounds the team is 2-1 (and 5-8 when he doesn't). Kyler Dixon was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Even though they lost, McIntosh was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

McIntosh has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Cottage Hill Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 7-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McIntosh will challenge Leroy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cottage Hill Christian Academy, they will square off against Bayside Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bayside Academy will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Cottage Hill Christian Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
