Garland is 10-0 against North Garland since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Garland Owls will head out on the road to take on the North Garland Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Garland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday.
Garland came into Friday's matchup having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victor by a 65-41 margin over South Garland. Given Garland's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 555th, while South Garland is ranked 1299th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Garland found their leader in underclassman Caleb Ibeneme, who scored 17 points along with two steals. It was the first time this season that Ibeneme scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Musa Ndow, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, North Garland pushed their score all the way to 56 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Naaman Forest by a score of 58-56. North Garland has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Garland's win bumped their record up to 9-10. As for North Garland, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.
Garland skirted past North Garland 53-51 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Garland since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
