The Bloom Blazing Trojan and the Orr Spartans will round out the year against one another at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday at. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
After only 19 points in their last match, Bloom made sure to put some points up on the board against Rich Township on Monday. Bloom pulled ahead with a 68-67 photo finish over Rich Township.
Meanwhile, Orr entered their tilt with Dyett with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Orr managed a 38-33 victory over Dyett on Thursday. Given Orr's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while Dyett is ranked 433rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Orr got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mariah Joiner out in front who scored four points along with ten rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Nia Crawford, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Bloom has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Orr, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3.
