Grace Boehly and Samantha O'Steen did most of the damage at the plate: Boehly fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 4-for-5, while O'Steen fired off two home runs and seven RBI while going 3-for-5. That's the most runs Boehly has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Amelia Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: South Plantation lost a few balls and finished the game with five home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Braddock typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday West Boca Raton proved too difficult a challenge. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 9-1 victory.
Megan Brockmann made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Brockmann was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, West Boca Raton let Mikaela Santiago and Teagan O'Neill run wild. Santiago got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, while O'Neill got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Nohelia Cruz-Cowan, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
The win (which was South Plantation's sixth in a row) raised their record to 13-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for West Boca Raton, their win bumped their record up to 6-14.
West Boca Raton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: South Plantation has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. It's a different story for West Boca Raton, though, as they've been averaging 9.2 hits. Given South Plantation's sizable advantage in that area, the Bulls will need to find a way to close that gap.
South Plantation took their victory against West Boca Raton in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-7 score. Will the Paladins repeat their success, or do the Bulls have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
