Basketball Recap: Notre Dame Drops Season-High Score on Ontario Christian

Notre Dame scored the most points they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They lost to the Ontario Christian Knights at home by a 80-63 margin. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2018.

Caiden Broughton and Jaxon Coduti certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Broughton posted 35 points and seven boards, while Coduti dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Coduti is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Gian Dela Cruz was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Cole Jones continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ontario Christian, going 11 of 19 on his way to 30 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Those 30 points gave Jones a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Salazar, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine assists.

Notre Dame's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Ontario Christian, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Notre Dame will welcome Fontana at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Fontana knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Notre Dame likes a good challenge. As for Ontario Christian, they will host Temescal Canyon at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
