The Farmville Central Jaguars put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat SouthWest Edgecombe 89-37 at home. Fans of Farmville Central have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Farmville Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tyler Whitehurst, who scored 23 points along with four steals. The matchup was Whitehurst's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mykal "MJ" Williams, who scored 15 points along with nine assists and three steals.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Justin Bridgers, who scored 11 points. The match was Bridgers' sixth in a row with at least ten points. Anquavion Darden was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, SouthWest Edgecombe were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Farmville Central only racked up 31 assists.
Farmville Central pushed their record up to 6-0 with that win, which was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season. As for SouthWest Edgecombe, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
Farmville Central will be home for the holidays to greet Northeastern at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Northeastern focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday. As for SouthWest Edgecombe, they will head out on the road to face off against Northern Nash at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Northern Nash has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 404 points over their last six contests.
