The South Wake Sabres will venture away from home to challenge the Southside Christian Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Wake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
On Monday, South Wake didn't have quite enough to beat Varsity Opponent and fell 9-7. The Sabres have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Micaiah Hahn put in work while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Caden Collins made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ryan Shope, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Southside Christian entered their tilt with New Life Christian Academy on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on New Life Christian Academy with a sharp 11-1 victory. That's two games straight that Southside Christian has won by exactly ten runs.
Like South Wake, Southside Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Jackson Simmons. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Simmons also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Southside Christian is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Simmons was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jonah Smith, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Jason Burke also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Southside Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Life Christian Academy only posted a batting average of .200.
The win got Southside Christian back to even at 3-3. As for South Wake, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. South Wake has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Southside Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went South Wake's way against Southside Christian when the teams last played on April 1st, as South Wake made off with a 14-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sabres since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
