The Edgewater Eagles put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They escaped with a win against Windermere by the margin of a single free throw, 84-83. Given Edgewater's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Windermere is ranked 70th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Zion Mitchell was his usual excellent self, scoring 27 points. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Donovan Williams Jr., who scored 15 points.
Edgewater pushed their record up to 9-0 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.7 points per game. As for Windermere, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Edgewater won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Oviedo at 7:30 p.m. on December 14th. One thing working in Oviedo's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups. Windermere will be home for the holidays to greet Olympia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Olympia is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
