Basketball Game Preview: Glenwood Springs Demons vs. Steamboat Springs Sailors

The Glenwood Springs Demons will head out on the road to take on the Steamboat Springs Sailors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Steamboat Springs took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Glenwood Springs, who comes in off a win.

Glenwood Springs is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They enjoyed a cozy 72-53 win over Grand Junction Central on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Glenwood Springs found their leader in freshman Aiden Parrington, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 19 points and eight rebounds. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for Parrington. Sayre Yellico was another key player, putting up 12 points and five assists.

Glenwood Springs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Steamboat Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were dealt an 86-35 loss at the hands of Resurrection Christian. While losing is never fun, the Sailors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 210th, while the Cougars are ranked 16th).

Steamboat Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Glenwood Springs, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-7.

Glenwood Springs won a game that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in February of 2022, slipping by Steamboat Springs 43-42. Does Glenwood Springs have another victory up their sleeve, or will Steamboat Springs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
