In what's become a running theme this season, the Denmark-Olar Vikings gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They blew past Ridge Spring-Monetta 78-58. Given Denmark-Olar's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while Ridge Spring-Monetta is ranked 273rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Denmark-Olar's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Terrance Hinton, who scored 25 points along with seven assists and six steals. Hinton hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Tykeen Ross was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Ridge Spring-Monetta lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tykeem Martin. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Martin has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of James Bosket, who scored 18 points along with two steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Denmark-Olar and bumps their season record up to 11-3. As for Ridge Spring-Monetta, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Blackville-Hilda the next time they take the court. Denmark-Olar will host Blackville-Hilda at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Ridge Spring-Monetta will head out to face them at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
