Kingsbury made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Whitehaven, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Falcons fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 9-7 on Tuesday.
Landon Harris made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Deangelo Baker was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Memphis Central got the win against Cordova on Wednesday by a conclusive 11-2. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 13 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Evan Nelson spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Memphis Central got a massive performance out of Patrick Ryan, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Malachai Adams also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
Memphis Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Kingsbury, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9-1.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Kingsbury has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .581. However, it's not like Memphis Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .532. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Kingsbury suffered a grim 16-0 defeat to Memphis Central when the teams last played last Wednesday. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
