Baseball Recap: Shaler Area Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Shaler Area, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Taylor Allderdice Dragons with a sharp 8-1 win on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won four matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Colby Weber made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Shaler Area let Ben Yeckel and Colby Mcguire run wild. Yeckel went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Mcguire scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Shaler Area is undefeated when Mcguire posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Brendan Fitzgerald, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Shaler Area's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Taylor Allderdice, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
