After both having extra time off, the Greer Yellow Jackets and the Pickens Blue Flame will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Things were looking good for Greer after they put the first points on the board last Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Landrum by a score of 5-4.

Morgan Arterburn

03/13/25 @ Travelers Rest | 10 |
03/11/25 vs Berea | 12 |
Morgan Arterburn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Adison Howard and Madison Zayas stepped up to the plate in a big way. Howard scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Zayas went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Howard has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Delia Watson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, Pickens put another one in the bag last Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 9-5 win over Berea. With that victory, the Blue Flame brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Sophie Duzan made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over eight innings while giving up five earned runs off ten hits. Duzan was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaylee Bolding, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ava Belle Lawton, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-3.
Pickens' win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Greer, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5-1.
Everything went Greer's way against Pickens in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, as Greer made off with a 10-1 win. Will Greer repeat their success, or does Pickens has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
