The Silverdale Academy Seahawks will challenge the Evangelical Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Silverdale Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.9 points per game this season.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Silverdale Academy and Chattanooga Christian, and Silverdale Academy kept the tradition alive. The Seahawks took their contest on Thursday with ease, bagging a 42-7 victory over the Chargers. Given the Seahawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Chargers are ranked 192nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Silverdale Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cody Davenport, who rushed for 162 yards and one score while picking up 10.1 yards per carry. Davenport was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 59 yards. Jackson Deitch was another key back, rushing for 92 yards and one TD.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Silverdale Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 291 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 189 rushing yards in four consecutive games.
Evangelical Christian fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against St. George's by a score of 25-14 on Thursday.
Silverdale Academy better focus on containing Elliot Caswell and Ezra Caswell as the pair were huge in Evangelical Christian's win. Elliot rushed for 156 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.2 yards per carry, while Ezra gained 72 total yards and a touchdown. CC Caldera got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.
Evangelical Christian picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 3-7. As for Silverdale Academy, their record is now 6-4.
Friday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. Silverdale Academy has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 212.4 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Evangelical Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 94.6 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Everything came up roses for Silverdale Academy against Evangelical Christian in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 37-7 win. In that contest, the Seahawks amassed a halftime lead of 30-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
