Baseball Game Preview: Hancock Panthers vs. Northern Garrett Huskies

Hancock is 0-8 against Northern Garrett since April of 2018 but things could change on Monday. The Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Huskies at 4:30 p.m.

Hancock is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Thursday. They lost 10-4 to Southern.

Logan Hendershot put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double. Hancock is 2-1 when Hendershot posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Tyler Clingerman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

Meanwhile, Northern Garrett had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Thursday. They came out on top against Varsity Opponent by a score of 4-1.

Landon Yoder spent all seven innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on eight hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Wally Brands, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Liam Stewart was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run.

Northern Garrett kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 12 consecutive contests.

Northern Garrett's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. As for Hancock, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Hancock suffered a grim 20-0 defeat to Northern Garrett in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
