The American Christian Academy Patriots had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They put the hurt on Sipsey Valley with a sharp 51-29 win. The result was nothing new for American Christian Academy, who have now won four matchups by 22 points or more so far this season.
Several Bears players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lj Cormier, who threw for 408 yards and three touchdowns. Cormier is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Wyatt Bailey also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
American Christian Academy's win was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Holt and 1-9 Dallas County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 37.9% over those games). As for Sipsey Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. American Christian Academy will challenge Montevallo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sipsey Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Hale County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
