The biggest upset of the week belonged to New Albany, who took down 30th ranked Lafayette, 10-7. Spencer Day threw for 127 yards and one touchdown and ran for three yards in the win.
The Bulldogs moved up to 73 from 104 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A Region 2. New Albany climbed the ranks as a result of topping the Commodores 10-7.
North Pontotoc's dynamic duo of Trey Jolly and Murphy Daniel proved tough for Senatobia to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Jolly threw for 217 yards and one touchdown and Daniel had 87 yards receiving. Greg Gambrel helped North Pontotoc's passing attack out by catching three balls for 46 yards.
Tevin Wooten was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 203 yards on 12 carries as the Warriors bested the Warriors. Teammate Monterrius Wink added to the ground attack by rushing for seven yards.
North Pontotoc's Jolly and Marcus Green have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Jolly has thrown for 1937 yards this season, while Green, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 41 catches for 690 yards. Boston Newsome from Ron Price's team leads the league in rushing with 1434 yards.
Going into this week's game against Lewisburg, Brian Sutton's team's Jolly needs 63 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
A big matchup in 4A Region 2 this week will be when the Vikings take on the Patriots. North Pontotoc is in second place, while Lewisburg is in third place.
The Bulldogs made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,993 from 4,396. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 10-7 victory over Lafayette last week.
