The Robertsdale Golden Bears had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They had just enough and edged Lake Oconee Academy out 52-49.
Leading Robertsdale to victory were Hannah Johansen and Mallorie Rothe. Johansen scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Rothe scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Johansen pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaunte Sanders, who scored ten points.
Robertsdale is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. As for Lake Oconee Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
Robertsdale will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Chickasaw at 5:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Chickasaw is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. Lake Oconee Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against North Bay Haven Academy at 11:30 a.m. on December 23rd. North Bay Haven Academy is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
